Sent: Wednesday, May 09, 2001 11:26 AM Subject: 2550/3Di installation bootdisk for SuSE 7.1 A co-worker of mine found your Linux page recently when he was compiling a custom kernel on a 2450. We got a couple of 2550s on Monday, and were unable to load the aacraid driver during installation, using either SuSE 7.0 or 7.1. The aic7xxx driver loaded fine if one or both channels were configured as SCSI. Tuesday, I configured both channels as SCSI, and loaded SuSE 7.1, contemplating using software RAID. I nonetheless patched the 2.4.4 source and compiled in aacraid, made a bzdisk, and tried it on the other 2550. It worked! It saw the 2 containers before the kernel panic. My co-worker, Ryan Henry, found this on the SuSE website: http://sdb.suse.de/sdb/en/html/ke_suse-bootdisk.html Following these instructions, we were able to make a bootdisk with aacraid compiled into the kernel, and install SuSE 7.1. I made an image of it, and if you are interested in posting it on your site or elsewhere, please do. Eric Miller IT EPSIIA Corporation
