From: Paul Subject: Slackware 8.1 updated raid.s Date: 05 May 2003 02:22:27 -0500 I have done an updated raid.s boot disk for Slackware 8.1 which includes megaraid1-18h for use on a PE2600. Attached is the raid.s as well as the needed files to patch the Slackware 8.1 ISO image. Here are the usage notes which you may wish to post as well How do I use the updated raid.s file ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The raid.s file is an update of the original raid.s supplied with Slackware 8.1 You can simply use Rarwrite to spit this disk image and boot directly from it. You will also need to use a root disk, which are also on the Slackware 8.1 CDROM. Note if you use install.1, install.2, install.3, install.4, install.5 then this will not work! See below. How do I use this image with the Slackware ISO ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1. Copy the Slackware CD to your hard disk somewhere 2. Copy bzImage, config, System.map.gz to your harddisk where you copied the CD and place these files under /kernels/raid.s and overwrite the files there 3. Write the CD using your favorite CD authoring tool Note: You need to make sure this CD is burnt as a bootable disc with the proper boot sector configuration. I found cdrtools with mkisofs and then used Nero to burn the .iso image. If you have any problems please let me know Regards, Paul Rivoli paul@kbs.net.au K B S I N T E R N E T
