Use the Managed System Login window to log in to Server Administrator on a managed system.

NOTE: You cannot manage any remote system from a VMware® ESX 3.5 based Server Administrator Web server. If you try to do the same, you may see a login failed error message. |
Hostname / IP address | Type the managed system's IP Address or
system name or Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN). NOTE: If you have entered the system name or FQDN, Dell™ OpenManage™ Server Administrator Web Server host converts the system name or FQDN into the IP Address of the managed system. NOTE: You can also enter the port number of the managed system. For example, Hostname:Port Number, or IP address:Port Number. NOTE: If you are connecting to a XenServer™ 5.6 managed node, use port 5986 in the format Hostname:Port Number, or IP address:Port Number. |
Username | Type your managed system's username.
Use the following combinations to enter a valid user name:

Application | Specifies the application to which you are logging in. |
Active Directory Login | Check this option to log in using Microsoft
Active Directory® authentication. You should select
the "Active Directory Login" check box to log in using the Dell Extended
Schema Solution in Microsoft® Active Directory. This solution enables you to
provide access to Server Administrator; allowing you to add/control Server
Administrator users and privileges to existing users
in your Active Directory software. For more information see "Using Microsoft
Active Directory" in the Dell OpenManage
Server Administrator Installation Guide. NOTE: Before you can use Active Directory to access your system, you must configure both the Active Directory software and the system. See "Using Microsoft Active Directory" in the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator Installation Guide for more information. NOTE: This application requires client side scripting to be enabled. See the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator User's Guide for instructions. |
Ignore Certificate Warnings | Check this option to
ignore the certificate warnings. You can ignore the web server managed
system's certificate, installed on the managed node. SECURITY NOTE: Use the Ignore Certificate Warnings option with discretion. It is highly recommended that you use it only in trusted Intranet environments. |

Could not resolve hostname | This error may occur when the Web server cannot resolve the hostname you have entered. |
Connection error | The error may occur due
to any of the following reasons:

Certificate error | The error may occur due
to any of the following reasons:

Authentication Failure | This error may occur due to any of the
following reasons:

Connection timeout | This error may occur if the managed system you are trying to access is unreachable or taking too long to respond. This may be because the dependent service(s) on the managed system are processing other requests. |
Internal error occurred | This error may occur due
to any of the following reasons:

Out of Memory | This error is an operating system error. See the operating system documentation of the managed system and fix the issue and login again. |
CRL file not present or bad | This error may occur if you have not specified a valid CRL (Certificate Revocation List) file. |
Lockdown mode is enabled in the managed node | This error may occur if the lockdown mode is enabled on a VMware ESXi managed node. For more information on lockdown mode, see VMware documentation. |
Use the Login window to log in to Server Administrator on local system.
Username |
Enter the username assigned for your operating system login. NOTE: For supported Microsoft Windows® operating systems, this entry is not case-sensitive. For supported Red Hat® Enterprise Linux and SUSE Linux Enterprise server operating systems, this entry is case-sensitive. |
Password | Type your local system's password. |
Domain | If your system is running a Microsoft Windows operating system and is a member of the Windows domain, select a domain from the domain list. |
Application | Specifies the application to which you are logging in. |

The administrator can restrict access to the application by User or Power User groups. A user that is a member of either of these groups might not regain access to an application because the group lacks the appropriate access level.
Use the Log Out window to end your Server Administrator program session after clicking Log Out on the Global Navigation Bar.
The Log Out button is located in the upper-right corner of each Server Administrator window.
