Tech/Printers

Dell recommends Linux users buy Dell printers which have PostScript engines in them, as opposed to those which don't and for which no Linux drivers are yet available. The Tech Specs tab for each printer on dell.com show if it has PostScript or not. For these printers, the generic Linux PostScript driver should work.

A generic setup would be to attach a printer to the network, or locally. Goto system-->administration--> printers and double-click "new printer". Ubuntu will probe local ports and also the local subnet to detect printers, and should show a listing of detected printers. From this point you can highlight the desired printer, and on the next screen choose generic-->postscript to setup a postscript driver.
