Description: The Gnome Display Manager does not start after upgrading from Ubuntu 7.04 to Ubuntu 7.10.
Systems Affected: Inspiron 1420n
Impact: The X window manager (Gnome Display Manager) will not start.
Fix: Switch to virtual terminal 1 by typing Ctrl+Alt+F1 and run:

$sudo dpkg-reconfigure -fnoninteractive xserver-xorg

followed by a reboot.

This command will configure the system to use the correct video driver in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
